More Snow!!

I can't belive we are getting more snow! Thank goodness my husband and son do all of the shoveling. But I am feeling bad for the deer and the birds. Will they die of starvation? I had seen a small piebald deer in my backyard two weeks ago, and I was looking forward to seeing him grow up. I hope he makes it throught this snow! I had never seen a piebald deer before, and at first I thought a baby cow was in my yard! Her picture is above.

I am still working on my Bloomin challenge quiltlet. I am working on the fairy now. Above is my 'before' pix; I will post another when I finish her.

Super Bowl and Bloomin Challenge

I am watching the Super Bowl and taking breaks to work on my Blomin Challenge for my guild, Friendship Stars in Gaithersburg, Md. I must admit I do not care for the fabric we are working with, so it is making it hard too be creative. Oh, well, it will be a learning experience. Here is what I have done so far. It still needs a lot of work.

Valentines Day

Here are 2 little quiltlets for Valentine's Day. I like the pink one best. The green one is being sent to my swap mate from Pat Sloans Sweetheart rock swap. http://quiltmashup.com/index.php/board,55.0.html

Charity Quilts

Today I will be researching charity quilt organizations. I am trying to decide whether to join and existing charity or start my own. since my trip to Tanzania in 2008, I would really like to make quilts for the people I met there. I will search the web today, and then decide.

I am working on my Mystery Quilt from my class next week. It is made from Blank Fabrics, so I am also going to use it to enter my guilds Blank Challenge. Hope it turns out good!

Brookside Gardens

Wow! I just got back from the Winter Lights display at the Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Md. They were gorgeous! During the summer it is a beautiful walk-through garden, but the walk-through lights display is supurb! Here is their information:

Brookside Gardens year-long 40th Anniversary Party continues with theGarden of Lights. It wouldn’t be a party without candles, or in this case940,000 twinkling colorful lights shaped in imaginative and interactive displays such as a flock of landing geese, an 11 foot giraffe, a mythical sea monster, and the four seasons make this walk thru light show an annual holiday family favorite.
Inside of the Conservatory, a winter display of holiday poinsettias, flowering plants and evergreens are combined in bright and bold combinations, providing a colorful landscape through which the garden railway trains travel.
The light show is open every night November 27 through January 3 and during the days starting December 5.
I also saw the Cloth and Chocolate Quilts. They were also fantastic! I am now inspired to do an entire Brookside Garden's quilt theme in the new year.
